Rashaan Allwood, Toronto child prodigy turned virtuosic organ master, is back in Toronto for a free concert. He will be honouring the church's English organ with a program of lush and exciting English and German music. Elgar, Brahms and Wagner works will thrill both organ lovers and those looking for a fun, free concert!
Toronto-native Rashaan Allwood burst on the scene with his first prize win at the Concours d’orgue de Québec in 2017, and the Canadian National OSM Manulife competition in 2016.
As a passionate recitalist, Rashaan strives to uses cohesive programming, lecture recitals, and multimedia performances to engage audiences. This has led to performances at venues such the Canadian Opera Company Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre, the Montreal Maison Symphonique and St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, UK. Rashaan is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he studied piano performance with Professor James Parker and organ with Professor Kevin Komisaruk. He will be completing a Master of Music in Organ and Church Music at McGill University with Hans-Ola Ericsson in Spring 2018, and starting an Artist Diploma at Rice University with Ken Cowan in Fall 2018.
