Sunny Son is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Kansas studying with Dr. James Higdon. She holds her Performance diploma from the Royal Academy of Music, London, her Master of Music from the University of Kansas, and her Bachelor of Music from the University of North Texas. Winner of the William C. Hall Pipe Organ Competition in San Antonio, Texas, and the AGO Regional Young Artist's Organ Competition for Region VII in 1999, and the 2002 Ottumwa Organ Competition in Iowa, she also has won prizes in the 2004 San Marino Organ Competition, and in competition at the Royal Academy of Music, London in 2007. At present, in addition to her doctoral studies, Sunny is organist at the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence, Kansas.
