New $12,000 Award For Top Canadian Sponsored by the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation

Montreal, March 15, 2016 – Less than a year before the deadline to apply for the 2017 Canadian International Organ Competition (CIOC), the CIOC and the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation are proud to announce a $12,000 award for the top Canadian competitor participating in the 2017 CIOC.

McGill University Pays Honour to John Grew Artistic Director of the Canadian International Organ Competition

Montréal, January 19th, 2016 - In honour of the many lasting contributions Professor John Grew has made to McGill University, a fund has recently been established by his friends and colleagues. This fund will provide financial support for organ and harpsichord students at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University.

The 2015 Festival a success: over 3100 spectators at the Canadian International Organ Competition

Montréal, October 27, 2015 – The Canadian International Organ (CIOC) Festival, presented by National Bank, closed on Sunday October 25: from October 4 to 25, 2015, over 3100 spectators attended eleven events, a significant increase from the last Festival in 2013 which welcomed 1634 spectators.

Montreal, May 8, 2014 – The names of the 16 candidates that will take part in the2014 edition of the Canadian International Organ Competition (CIOC) has now been released! These candidates were selected from 42 applicants by a preliminary jury consisting of 5 prominent organists from across North America: Lynne Davis, Joan Lippincott, Jan Overduin, Richard Paré, and Jean-Guy Proulx. All candidates had to be under the age of 35 to be eligible.

Rimouski, April 9, 2014 – Le Concours international d’orgue du Canada et les Amis de l’Orgue de Rimouski sont fiers de présenter en concert le premier organiste en résidence de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Jean-Willy Kunz, aux côtés de Thomas Leslie, ténor. In preparation for the Organ Competition in October 2014

Montréal, March 25, 2014 – Étape préparatoire en prévision du concours triennal du Concours international d’orgue du Canada, le jury préliminaire se rencontre du 4 au 6 avril 2014 pour analyser les 42 candidatures reçues d’organistes de très haut calibre. Seul un maximum de 16 candidats seront invités à se présenter au Concours qui aura lieu à Montréal du 8 au 19 octobre 2014.
